The intent of this website is to have motorcycle riders to bring their motorcycles to Uncle Frank's to have the work they need done on their motorcycle. The purpose is to provide some information to the customer on what Uncle Frank's Cycle Shop does. The website is designed to give a brief overview of what type of services that the shop offers and to hopefully bring in more business. The steps that were taken to accomplish this goal was to give a brief history of the shop and Uncle Frank. I also included a service page that showcassed the services that the shop offers. I included a vendors page that shows some of the parts companies that the shop can get parts from. I also included a contact page that will allow the customer to email, call, or visit the shop to ask any questions or schedule work to be done.
The design choices that I made were chosen to appeal to most motorcycle riders. The colors black and red are very common colors to use in the industry and very recognizable by motorcyclist. Red is used in a lot of motorcycle company logos, products, and advertisements. Companies such as Honda, Yamaha, Ducatti, and a few others have their name and logo in red. Black is also a predominate color in the industry. Companies such as Harley Davidson, Indian, Norton, Triumph and a few others have black as one of the primary colors of their logos. Because of the use of these colors in the industry, I decided to use them in my website. I also chose to include images that mototcyclist can recognize, such as the Fatbook and Wild Ass image. I decided to keep the amount of text limited inorder to keep from over crowding the page and having the viewer get bored with the page. I took a minimalist aproach. I added the video to answer any questions about Dyno tuning. Dyno tuning is very common in the motorcycle industry but for most it is only used after engine work is done. For the people that never had engine work done or tuning done they may need to better understand what Dyno tuning is and what it can do for them. For this reason I included a video explaining Dyno tuning.
In the future I would like to add a review section that customers can leave reviews. With reviews posted it would give future customers an idea if the shop is reputable or not. Many services and products are used or bought based on reviews. This could really help a customer make a decision to come to Unlce Frank's. I would also like to put pictures of some of the custom work that will be done in the future. If customers can see what kind of work the shop can do they may be entised to have work done to their bikes. If I had more time I would have liked to have the review page added and have some vidoes of work that we have done added. I would also have added more graphics and make a logo for the shop. Companies are recognized by their logos and I think this would be a great addition to the company website and the shop as a whole. A logo would allow for advertisement products to be sold, such as Tshirts, hats and stickers. In a future update I would also like to add a page to sell parts and merchandise online. By adding an online shopping section I would be able to reach more customers and add growth to the company. I would also like to add links to other shops that support the business, such as an upholstery shop, metal supplies shop, or any other local business that supports Uncle Frank's. By adding these shop links, customers will be able to have other work done that we do not offer. This would build a good relationship with the community and other small businesses.
